Kingdoms of Amalur – Reckoning Vs Skyrim

I recently purchased “Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning” and I wanted to put some good words out on the sleeper Action/RPG by 38 Studio. The game does not host the most graphically enhanced engine up to date, but the reduced graphics, and small attention to design details, truly makes this a special gem in RPG gaming of 2012.

This is not like Skyrim

The game focuses heavily on its action oriented RPG style, while still maintaining heavy depth in the RPG content. The menus and upgrades are all functional and well planned out, especially considering load times and frame rate issues. This aspect of making the game play “Paramount” is evident,  including tutorial videos on how to preform specific actions, and detailed information on all aspects of the “Roll in the Pee Gee” if you catch my drift.

Much more like Fable … But Better!

But like every other creature that worships the digital gamer screen

I have been nerdzing out in Tamriel for way too many hours … So my opinion counts  😀

So the big question!

Does “Kingdoms of Amalur” stand up to the pure awesomeness of “””Skyrim“””.

We all agree Skyrim is “dragons”, but with all of its “dragons“, it still has some issues am I right? Especially on the PS3 version, the game itself has a number of glitches, and so much content that sometimes can be too much for the save file to handle. To make a long article smaller, I will say this “Kingdoms of Amalur” capitalizes on things that Skyrim does wrong, namely load times and action emphasis. Skyrim is obviously more beautiful, but that is not what KoA is all about. It is made to be a great RPG, with new stories coming from a fantasy base (Todd McfuckingFarlane!!!) and loads of content and areas to explore. So what you waiting for, grab a staff, sword, hammer whatever gets your fantasy fanboy ticking, and get ready to GRIND!!!
